The Midwifery Model of care
The midwifery care is different! We focus on the individual within the context of their community, providing the type of holistic care that pregnant people most need. The midwifery model of care includes:
monitoring the physical, psychological and social well-being of the parent throughout the childbearing cycle.
providing the parents with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care, continuous hands-on assistance during labor and delivery, and postpartum support.
minimizing technological interventions.
identifying and referring those who require obstetrical attention.
The application of this model has been proven to reduce to incidence of birth injury, trauma, and cesarean section. (Midwives Model of Care definition is Copyrighted © by the Midwifery Task Force, all rights reserved)
appointments
Appointments with us are significantly longer than those in a clinical or hospital setting. We book 45 minutes to 1.5 hours of face-to-face time with clients (depending on the type of appointment). This allows plenty of time for us to get to know each other, answer any of your questions, and address your healthcare needs in an un-rushed setting.
Availability
Questions and needs can arise at any time during pregnancy. One of the huge benefits to having a midwife is that your care provider is MUCH more available to you than most typical care providers. You have our direct phone numbers and can expect to hear from us within 24-48 hours after leaving a message. We want to make sure your questions are answered and you are feeling confident about your care! We also offer 24/7 emergency coverage.
